About

Hi, I'm Nick Lane, the developer behind Beautiful Photos.

I built it after Unsplash Instant disappeared from the Chrome Web Store. I missed opening a new tab and seeing a beautiful photo, so I made a replacement.

Unsplash Instant is available again, but by then Beautiful Photos had become something I wanted to keep using. I'm happy with how it turned out, and I still use it every day.

A new tab I enjoy coming back to

The photos are the reason I started. Along the way, I added a clock, quotes, and space for a personal reminder. You can keep a photo you love on screen or let the next tab bring something new.

It's an independent project, built around the small things I wanted in my own browser.

I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do. If something could work better, send me a note.

A thank-you to the photographers

Beautiful Photos uses photography from Unsplash. The photographers make those everyday moments possible, and you'll find a link to the photographer with each photo in the extension.

Beautiful Photos is an independent alternative to Unsplash Instant. It isn't made by or affiliated with Unsplash.
